Multimedia search includes 104,000 medical images, figures and tables.

Medical videos and medical images from NEJM. The NEJM Figures & Multimedia archives has over 20,000 images, graphs, audio and video from articles. It is not searchable but one can filter results by specialty, media type and/or date. Permissions information can be found by clicking on the Reprint & Permissions link to the right of each article. Powerpoint slides can be purchased by clicking on the slide set link to the right of some articles.

Search for a topic, then select the Graphics filter to narrow to images, graphs and tables. Export to PowerPoint available once image is selected.

The NLM History of Medicine Division (HMD) collects, preserves, makes available, and interprets for diverse audiences one of the world’s richest collections of historical material related to health and disease.

Provides online access to images from the U.S. National Library of Medicine’s (NLM) historical collections. Includes image files of a wide variety of visual media including fine art, photographs, engravings, and posters that illustrate the social and historical aspects of medicine dating from the 15th to 21st century. From the website: "MedPix® is a free open-access online database of medical images, teaching cases, and clinical topics, integrating images and textual metadata including over 12,000 patient case scenarios, 9,000 topics, and nearly 59,000 images. MedPix® images and case materials were contributed by many individuals. They are organized, reviewed, approved, and curated free of charge for your personal use and for local teaching at your institution - including distribution of handouts and syllabi. For anything other than personal use, you should respect the original contributor and contact them for additional permission requests".

Open Access Biomedical Image Search Engine: Open-i service of the National Library of Medicine enables search and retrieval of abstracts and images (including charts, graphs, clinical images, etc.) from the open source literature, and biomedical image collections. Searching may be done using text queries as well as query images. Open-i provides access to over 3.7 million images from about 1.2 million PubMed Central® articles; 7,470 chest x-rays with 3,955 radiology reports; 67,517 images from NLM History of Medicine collection; and 2,064 orthopedic illustrations. Reuse of Open-i images is determined by the license type of the image.

Database contains photos, images and video. Includes electron micrographic imagery and images associated with influenza, bioterrorism, natural disasters and environmental health. Most of these images are in the public domain (and free of copyright restrictions.)
