Feel free to email the library with the citation information at library@huntingtonhealth.org or fill out our article request form here: Article Request Form (CS/HH Employee Portal Log in required)
**Library reference hours are8am-12pm, Mon-Fri. Requests are handled in the order in which they are received.**
What happens when I order an article/book chapter?
We will first search our own collections to fill your request. If we do not have a copy of the item, we will then search other free online resources (i.e. GoogleScholar, Academia.edu, ResearchGate, etc.) for the item. If all proprietary and local databases do not have the item, then library staff will input the request into the DOCLINE system to ask other libraries to lend us the needed article/book chapter. Libraries are granted permission under the "Fair Use" guidelines of U.S. Copyright law to borrow/lend materials for purposes of private study, scholarship, or research (See the Copyright Notice below for more information.)
How much does an article request cost?
Sometimes there is a cost between libraries to borrow materials, however, as a benefit of being employed or on Medical Staff at Huntington Health, this service is provided free to you.
How long does it take to receive an article?
Please allow Huntington Health library staff at least 24 hours to receive and process your article request. If we need to request the article through interlibrary loan, the request will be routed to other libraries and may take 3 - 5 days to complete.
**Note: this timeframe is an estimate and depends on the operational capability, staffing, resources, and lending policies of other libraries - Huntington Health library staff have no control over article returns once our lending request is sent out.
Is there a limit to the number of articles I can request?
Requests with more than 3 citations are prioritized by order in which they are received unless otherwise specified. We will process up to 5 articles per requester per day. Please note, speed of delivery depends upon the operational capabilities of both our library and loaning (external) libraries in the system.
We strive to connect our patrons with the evidence-based information they need to improve patient care. However, we are a small library with limited staffing, which means that large volume requests are fulfilled at the discretion of the library staff. Please email the library directly to discuss your research requests, timeframe, and goals. We will do our best to accommodate your needs within the operational parameters of our library.
