What is PubMed?

PubMed is a searchable database that indexes journal articles from the health sciences - medicine, nursing, dentistry, public health, behavioral health, and much more.

How to Search PubMed

There are a number of ways to search PubMed, from a basic keyword search to a more complex search string.

  • BASIC: Searching PubMed can be as simple as entering a keyword or phrase in the PubMed Search Box and pressing the Enter key or clicking Search.

  • ADVANCED: For more advanced search techniques, we created an Expert Searching Guide to help you construct more specific, targeted searches.

When accessing PubMed, always use the link provided on our library website.

  • This will allow you to see if our library subscribes to the journal article.

  • If not, it will automatically link you to an article request form which will be sent directly to the library. This is a free service available to all HH-affiliated employees.
