The EBP/NR Council encourages nurses to participate in journal clubs on their units. The purpose of a journal club is to strengthen scientific inquiry in an approachable way for each department. A journal club is formatted so that both those new to or experienced with research can participate. Articles are selected by a member of the club to ensure relevance to their practice.
See below for resources about journal clubs and examples of current Huntington Hospital journal clubs. If you would like your journal club listed here as a resource for others contact the library.

Articles About Journal Clubs
Starting A Journal Club (Denehy 2004) - Note from Jorge Alvarez, RN 6E Journal Club champion; EBP/NR Council member:
I reviewed this article about Starting a Journal Club (by Janice Denehy, PhD, RN, editor of the Journal of School Nursing; posted on the National Nursing Practice Network site) and recommended that we post it on the Nursing Research Center as a resource to any of our RNs interested in learning about journal clubs. It is informative and brief. Although it is written with the School Nurse as the target reader/audience, I am recommending it because it is really relevant information for our use as well. You can let us know if you agree or not. I can be reached at Jorge.Alvarez@huntingtonhospital.com for any comments or questions about this article or journal clubs here at Huntington Hospital.
Sincerely,
Jorge
